If
you
are
already
familiar with Colorado’s scenic Highway 133 between
Carbondale and McClure Pass, you will love this book about people and
places in the Crystal River Valley. This valley is as close to
Heaven as you can get without checking in! "Memoirs of a River... Up the Crystal, Vol. 1" begins with a fourth-generation-removed Northern Ute elder and comes full circle with a fourth-generation pioneer settler, whose family lived with the Utes in the Crystal Valley and who still lives in the Carbondale house in which he was born. Author Charlotte Graham has been fascinated with the nuances of the Crystal River Valley from the first day she arrived. “I knew to find out more I needed to take the time to sit and visit with the old-timers. It’s been delightful.” Her newspaper column is featured in Carbondale’s The Sopris Sun newspaper the first Thursday of every month. Charlotte is in the process of completing “Memoirs, Volume 2” for publication in 2011. |
